With planning underway for the upcoming War of 1812 bicentennial, collaboration among Maryland stakeholders is essential. To stimulate partnerships, the Maryland War of 1812 Bicentennial Commission is presenting a series of conferences to familiarize stakeholders with the many sites, stories and organizations related to the War of 1812 in Maryland. Conferences have already been held in Southern Maryland, Prince George's County and the Head of the Bay region. The remaining conferences will take place on the Eastern Shore, North Point and Baltimore in 2010.

From the National Park Service: Grant applications for the FY 2010 Federal Save America's Treasures Program are now available on Grants.gov. Detailed program guidelines and instructions for using Grants.gov to apply are found on our website: http://www.nps.gov/history/hps/treasures/index.htm
Applications must be submitted through Grants.gov by the due date of May 21, 2010. In FY 2010, we have $14.3 million to award (a nice bump of $4 million more than FY 2009). Please spread the word!

AASLH is holding their Project Management for History Professionals program, funded by IMLS, at the Maryland Historical Society on March 30-April1, 2010. Registration closes on March 15.
The workshops offer 35 hours of formal project management training to history professionals. The training, 24 hours of onsite workshop training plus 11 hours of follow-up live webinar training, qualifies professionals in the history field to sit for the project management certification exam through Project Management International (PMI).

At the National Civil War Medicine Museum, rotate between a guided tour of the 2nd Floor, an educational program, and a guided tour of the 1st Floor. At the Sharpsburg Battlefield, participants will be guided by Justin Mayhue, a battalion chief in the Hagerstown Fire Department, battlefield guide at Antietam National Battlefield, president of the Hagerstown Civil War Roundtable, and author of five books, the most recent being A Civil War Journey: The Letters of John W. Brendel. Mayhue is also a part-time actor, whose films include Gods and Generals, No Retreat from Destiny, Ladder 49, and numerous History Channel projects - the most recent being Sherman's March to the Sea.
