Ranger Jim Bailey will present a program about the Baltimore County Horse Guards. Formed in January 1861 the cavalry company chose Charles Ridgely of Hampton as its Captain. John Merryman of Hayfields (a neighboring estate) was First Lieutenant and it was he who was arrested and held at Fort McHenry under a charge of treason after a series of events in April 1861.

Civil War Encampment- Bastion of Liberty or Symbol of Depotism?: 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
During the weekend, visitors will be able to experience Fort McHenry as it was in 1861. Union soldiers, fife and drum concerts, cannon-firing demonstrations, and children's activities all bring to life Fort McHenry at the beginning of the Civil War. Before coming to Fort McHenry, visitors are encouraged to view the Grand Procession (see below). Events then shift to Fort McHenry with afternoon fife and drum concerts, cannon-firing and a 4 p.m. dress parade.

Civil War 150: Maryland's Civil War Trails Expo opens at the Inner Harbor. Civil War sites and organizations from across Maryland will be on hand to talk with the public about events, exhibitions and programs planned during the 150th anniversary of the Civil War.

Rededication of President Street Station as Baltimore City Landmark: 10:30 a.m. - 12 p.m.
Built in 1850, it was the southern terminus of the Philadelphia, Wilmington & Baltimore Railroad, and the site of the arrival of Federal troops in April 1861. Prior to the war, fugitive slaves occasionally escaped on northbound trains.

Civil War 150: Baltimore's Grand Procession steps off at President Street Station: 11 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
The procession, commemorating the Pratt Street Riot and the first bloodshed of the war, will feature re- enactor groups, contemporary military and public safety units, fife and drum corps, color guards, mounted units and marching bands.

An original theatrical production tells the story of the Pratt Street Riot, which occurred on April 19, 1861, from the view of Baltimoreans on that fateful day.

Join Hari Jones, Curator of the African American Civil War Memorial in Washington, D.C. and learn how Baltimore’s Pratt Street became the site of mob violence when Union troops headed for D.C. were attacked by local citizens in April of 1861.

Candlelight Tours at Fort McHenry: 6 p.m. - 9 p.m.
Discover how various people viewed the outbreak of America's greatest conflict during the 40-minute guided tours. Visitors will "meet" free African-Americans, recently recruited Union volunteers, imprisoned Confederate sympathizers (including Francis Scott Key's grandson) and enslaved African-Americans.

The Civil War will begin 'again' at the Maryland Historical Society's Time Machine. The new exhibition will vividly tell the stories of a state caught between North and South. Riots, Railroads and the Coming of Mr. Lincoln: 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.
During the mid-late 1800’s, Camden Station served as headquarters of the B&O Railroad, ferried telegraph messages of Civil War movements and hosted four visits by President Abraham Lincoln, including the transfer of the slain President’s body on its return to Illinois.

Civil War 150th Anniversary: The War Came By Train: Sat: 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.; Sun: 11 a.m. - 4 p.m.
The American Civil War was the first major conflict where railroads played a prominent role and the B&O was the major line that straddled a divided country. Between April 19, 1861 (The Baltimore Riot of 1861) and April 21, 1865 (Lincoln's funeral train leaving Baltimore for Illinois), the B&O stood witness and participant in the greatest conflict the U.S. has ever faced and changed the course of American history.
